Tikkun Olam means fixing the world. It’s something you do not for yourself, but for others—helping the environment, animals, or people. It’s about taking small steps to make the world a kinder, cleaner, and better place. If everyone did their part, we could change the world together!

My Tikkun Olam is helping animals, especially stray dogs. I started when I was five years old and have faced challenges, like the time a dog bit me. Instead of getting scared, I learned that the dog was sick and needed help. That’s what Tikkun Olam is—stepping out of your comfort zone to make a difference.
The hardest part? Finding time! School, homework, and chores keep me busy, but I make time because it matters. My action plan is to write a book on how to take care of dogs and continue helping them.
My Journey in Helping Animals:
🐶 Ages 5-6: Fed stray dogs regularly.
🐶 Age 7 (Grade 2): Gave dog food instead of chocolates on my birthday.
🐶 Age 8 (Grade 3): Rescued three puppies from a pit and reunited them with their mom.

🐶 Age 9 (Grade 4): Raised funds for ALAI by selling lemonade and jelly, Informed the community about ALAI rescue centre, I generated fund of Rs. 10,000/- from my society, which helped two dogs get the tumor surgery and got saved by ALAI.

🐶 Age 10 (Grade 5 - Now): We( me and my parents) rescued a puppy which was being attacked by few stray dogs. We took him to the vet to get him vaccinated and him “Musky”. I feed him everyday. We sometimes get him home to play with us. He is a very jolly and playful little fellow.
Recently he has developed some lung infection, we took him to hospital again, got an x-ray done, got some medicine, hopefully he recovers soon.

I have always continued to feed 6,7 stray dogs three days a weekend who are away from any restaurants or homes nearby. And wherever we go for vacation, I make a few stray friends and feed them.
This entire journey makes me very elated. I have been continuously keeping a watch on the PETA website, I have learned how they have been fighting against so many issues on animal cruelty all over the globe.
I recently visited the store Allen solly in HSR Layout, and saw PETA approved cactus skin handbags, which were really beautiful and I was very excited to see that.

When I saw and learned about the Cow’s cruelty from the PETA website, It broke my heart, so I decided to express my feelings through art, I made a art to represent a cow standing in a open grass pasture, a tree (which represents Human being-we). How a coin has two sides, we too have both dark and bright, lets focus more on bright side of our emotions which are kindness, empathetic, be more human and try to cage your darkside like selfishness, unheard cries, burdened with grief, unwanted desire.
Tikkun Olam is not about being the best—it’s about making a difference.
So, what’s your Tikkun Olam? How do you help make the world better? 😊

Lashika, your words beautifully capture the essence of Tikkun Olam—not just as a concept, but as a living, breathing commitment to compassion, justice, and collective responsibility. Your reflections are a powerful reminder that small, intentional acts of kindness can ripple outward to create meaningful change. Thank you for continuing to inspire with both your voice and your actions. The world truly needs more of this energy. 💛🐾
